Macedonian striker Goran Pandev has completed his move to Italian champions Inter Milan. The Lazio forward who was at Inter Milan from 2001-2004 but never made an appearance during that time has signed a four and half year contract and will remain with the Nerrazuri till 2014.

Pandev transferred to Lazio from Inter Milan in 2004 where he achieved considerable success scoring 48 times in 159 games. But in the last year, a furious battle erupted between Pandev and club president Claudio Lotito. Unhappy with Pandev’s desire to leave the club, Lotito “froze” Pandev from the Lazio squad. Pandev trained on his own for four months before filing for termination of contract in September 2009. The Lega Calcio contract resolution board finally gave the verdict in Pandev’s favour and he was allowed to find new employers.

A host of clubs from across Europe were eager to sign “free-agent” Pandev. Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Zenit St.Petersberg were all keen on the forward but he had his sights set on a return to San Siro.

Pandev will wear the number 27 shirt at Inter. He will form a deadly attacking quartet along with Samuel Eto’o, Diego Milito and Mario Balotelli.

Wigan have signed Celtic defender Gary Caldwell on a four and half year deal. It is believed that the fee is somewhere in the region of £1m pounds and the players wages will be around £20,000 a week. Caldwell was also wanted by Championship side Middlesbrough but Wigan’s manager Roberto Martinez moved quickly to secure the signature of the 27-year old.

It may be your lucky day! Bet premier league with 888sport! Join NOW!

Caldwell joined Celtic in 2006, helping the club win two League titles and two domestic Cups. He was also voted 2009 Clydesdale Bank SPL Player of the Year and Scottish Football Writers Footballer of the Year. Caldwell is Wigan’s third signing of the January transfer window following the arrivals of Steven Gohouri and Vladimir Stojkovic.

premier league bets

Caldwell spoke about the move , “To play in the Premier League has always been an ambition of mine but I know how tough it’s going to be to get in the side and I need to focus on winning a place and doing the best I can for my new club. It’s a massive wrench for me to leave a club like Celtic but I want to thank the club and all the fans for the support they’ve given me in my time there. But I’m a Wigan Athletic player now and I can’t wait to get started in the Premier League.”

Over half of Real Madrid’s fans in Spain think that Los Merengues should sign a replacement for injured defender Pepe when the winter transfer market opens. Marca’s poll showed 70% voting for a replacement buy, while AS reported a lower figure of 57%. Portuguese centre half Pepe tore his cruciate ligament in right knee while playing for Real in their 3-2 win over Valencia on Saturday. He will miss the rest of Real’s season and may also not be able to feature in Portugal’s World Cup 2010 campaign.

Real are reportedly planning to put Raul Albiol and Ezequiel Garay in the centre, with right back Sergio Ramos expected to deputise if the need arises. Ramos has played in the centre for Madrid in the past and has shown himself to be more than competent in that position. Former Dortmund defender Christophe Metzelder is also an option, but games at the Bernabeu have been scarce for the German international.

Everton have expressed an interest in signing USA forward Landon Donovan. The Toffees are reportedly in talks with Donovan’s MLS franchise, LA Galaxy, to bring the player on loan to Goodison Park in the winter transfer window.

Everton chief executive Robert Elstone has said that Donovan is a transfer target for the club’s Scottish manager David Moyes. Any deal Everton manage to make with Galaxy for Donovan’s services is likely to be similar to the one the MLS side have in place with AC Milan, who will take David Beckham on loan in January.

If the negotiations are fruitful, Donovan will join the Toffees on a three month loan beginning on January 2. California born Donovan has never played in England before. He has however had two spells in the Bundesliga, first with Bayer Leverkusen and then with Bayer’s bitter rivals Bayern Munich.

According to news reports, Wolverhampton Wanderers are weighing up a bid for Leeds United’s prolific striker Jermaine Beckford in January. The 25 year’s old contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the 2009-10 season, and Mick McCarthy believes that the Whites would be ready to cash in if a bid comes in.

Beckford joined Leeds United from non league Wealdstone in January 2006 and has gone on to become one of the club’s most valuable players. He has netted 67 times in 118 outings for the League One outfit, and has also attracted attention from the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United.

Beckford was placed on the transfer market in the summer of 2009 after failing to agree to a contract extension, but Leeds took him off it in August. Manager Simon Grayson’s original plan was to get promotion to the Championship and then discuss a new contract with the 25 year old. But it appears that Grayson’s resolve may be tested when Wolves come knocking in the winter market. Sam Vokes may also be used as bait in order to make Leeds agree to Beckford’s transfer.

Wolves are currently second from bottom in the Premier League and have only scored twelve times in fourteen games this season.
